Soft as a cloud, breathable as an embrace, natural as a caress.
Not a simple bed accessory, but a true companion that supports our head for about a third of our time: as much as a bed base or a mattress, the pillow is crucial for sleep quality and, consequently, for our life.
The shape of the pillow
What position do we assume when we lie down?
What are our anatomical characteristics? One thing is certain: sleeping on the wrong pillow risks causing back, neck and upper limb problems, which often translate into a general feeling of malaise upon waking.
When lying down, the spine, including the cervical section, should be in a natural and relaxed position; the pillow should accommodate the width of the shoulders, preventing the head from sliding to the side.
For a careful choice of pillow, you need to know how to identify the appropriate height and consistency: fundamental and certainly very personal characteristics:
The height of the pillow
In supine position (on your back):
a pillow that’s too low forces the neck to accentuate its curvature (lordosis) to compensate for the dorsal curve (kyphosis). This results in nighttime stiffening of the muscles that support the head, with consequent neck and shoulder pain after waking.
a pillow that’s too high forces the entire spine and the muscles supporting it into an unnatural position which, if maintained for long, could cause problems.
Lying on your side: a pillow of the wrong height causes the spine to lose its linearity, forcing the neck to remain bent to the left or right.
The consistency of the pillow:
If the pillow is too soft, the neck “sinks” into it, while if it’s too rigid the cervical section remains unnaturally suspended. In both cases, the muscles will try to compensate for the problem, generating pain.
Whatever your preferred sleeping position, Molina down and feather pillows satisfy different needs, following the natural curve of every posture. Thanks to the excellent adaptability of the fillings, Molina pillows guarantee gradual elastic recovery and avoid harmful compression to the cervical spine thanks to their resilience.
