Loving your duvet: care and maintenance.

Loving your duvet means knowing it and taking care of it. Here are some guidelines for proper maintenance of down and feather duvets and quilts: Providing them with the most appropriate treatments to keep them “clean” and “restored” will help preserve their properties over time, maintaining their functionality and efficiency as much as possible.

The procedures for caring for duvets and quilts are the same:

  • Air out the duvet to allow evaporation of moisture absorbed during the night;
  • Brush especially along the seams which can collect dust normally present in domestic environments. Do not use a vacuum cleaner;
  • Fluff or shake the quilt or duvet to maintain even distribution of the filling. Do not use carpet beaters;
  • Wash following the instructions on the label (see washing tips) avoiding excessive soiling of the item;
  • Store the duvet at the end of the season in cotton bags or cases to protect it from dust while allowing ventilation. In this regard, we advise against using plastic covers.

Washing Instructions The duvet and quilt can be safely washed at home in a washing machine or by using specialized laundry services. It is very important to read the instructions on the label that comes with each individual product.

Let’s see together how to read a sample label:

Washing: at 40°C with neutral detergents, by hand or in washing machine. Use plenty of water.

Rinsing: repeat several times until the water runs clear. Incomplete washing and rinsing can leave stains especially on light-colored fabrics.

Bleaching: do not use chlorine-based products, as they irreversibly damage the down.

Drying: spin moderately and, if possible, tumble dry at 40°C. Do not expose the item to direct sunlight.

Ironing: depends on the fabric, however if recommended on the label always use a warm iron.

Dry cleaning: where recommended on the label
